Filipinos are known for celebrating the longest Yuletide season however you will feel the spirit of Christmas as nearly as September, once the "ber" months hit the calendar they start to decorate Christmas trees, and dynamic colorful lights their houses, establishments, and streets.

Simbang gabi a nine-day Roman Catholic ritual novena, starts nine days before Christmas and it ends on December 24 and most Filipino are bravely wake up by four in the morning to attend the mass and attending these masses is a way to show their devotion to the Devine being. There's also a folk belief that God will grant the wish of anyone who completes the nine dawn masses. Filipinos after the mass they would cater their pangs of hunger and thirst for good food like bibingka (flour and egg cakes cooked with coals in top and bottom), puto bungbong (a purple-colored rice pastry seasoned by grated coconut and brown sugar), tsokolate (a hot chocolate drink) which are sold by the vendors outside the churches and parishes. Christmas day is the most cherished moment of the year and the thrill starts on the morning of December 24, people are getting busy baking and cooking foods especially Filipino dish. When 12:00 came on December 25 all the members of every Filipino family proceed to the dining table after opening their gifts under the big Christmas tree and they enjoy their Noche Buena.
