Paul Staples, IHHELPP Vice President for Operations, together with Lolita Staples, IHHELPP Treasurer, represented this 501c3 public foundation at the Asia Pacific Career Conference (APCC) held at Brigham Young University (BYU), Hawaii, on March 7-10, 2018.

“APCC is an event focused on bringing international employers to the BYU-Hawaii campus to better serve international students and companies involved in looking for an employee for open positions,” said Mark Macdonald, director of BYU Hawaii’s Alumni and Career Services.

IHHELPP set up a booth in the event and displayed newsletters

with the rest of other presenters from different parts of the world and US Mainland.

The main goal of IHHELPP’s participation is to raise awareness about IHHELPP’s humanitarian projects in the Philippines.
"It was a wonderful exposure for IHHELPP to get invited to BYU Hawaii’s first APCC event,” said Lolita Staples. "It was a very useful platform to mingle and connect with students."

Panels or SIPs in building disaster resilient homes in the Philippines.

"The one that stood out for me is the durability of SIPs. The material they used for construction is better than the traditional materials and that it can make construction faster," said Christie Lee, a BYU Hawaii student. "The cheaper and stronger material will benefit the families in the Philippines, especially those in poverty who need protection from storms and other calamities."

Many Filipinos who attended the event expressed interest in volunteering for IHHELPP after graduation.

"These students are very bright, optimistic, and anxious to work in the real world," said Lolita Staples. "IHHELPP gave them some sort of a boost knowing they have a future working for IHHELPP when they go back home after graduation. "
"I think what impressed me the most about IHHELPP is how this organization is not just helping others on its own, but also how it is being a link and co-partner for other groups or individuals to connect to people in need," said Jinev Villanueva, a BYU Hawaii student from the Philippines.
