IHHELPP, in collaboration with former school teacher Romeo Campos, donated school supplies and hygiene kits to kindergartners as well as first and second-grade students at Macapangpang Elementary  School  in   Nueva Ecija,
Bundles of pad papers, pencils, pens, scissors, notebooks, glue, plastic envelopes, crayons, pencil cases , umbrellas , tooth brushes , tooth paste , combs , shampoos, soaps , towels, and eco bags were given to eager elementary students.
“These students received school supplies that they will use to draw, write and learn,” said Jean Doria, IHHELPP Vice President for Communications. “These are basic tools necessary to develop their learning skills. The school supply set comprised of nine items that are

handy and useful for acquiring foundational skills writing and reading. As a child, I loved to cut paper and so I make it a point to always include scissors when we give out school supplies. Cutting fosters creativity.”

In addition to school supplies, students were also given hygiene kits to promote health and wellness by reinforcing dental and personal hygiene.

“We know that these poor children hardly have any of these supplies for their own use,” said Jean Doria. “Hopefully having t h e i r o w n t o o t h b r u s h e s , toothpaste, soaps, shampoos and towels will help them feel good about themselves and instill the desire to be clean and healthy.”

IHHELPP also distributed umbrellas to protect the students from rain as well as intense sunlight. The umbrellas came in different colors with adorable animal faces. The children and parents were happy to get these umbrellas.
“It was very heartwarming to see the excited faces of the children and feel their gratitude,” shared Jean Doria. “Truly, the joy comes from giving.”

“Our 12-year-old and 17-year-old daughters helped out with this humanitarian project and they were very happy to do it,” added Doria. “Rene and I are grateful for the opportunity to serve on behalf of IHHELPP. This was a very meaningful experience for all of us as we witnessed how items that are taken for granted by others can be so rewarding for those who are not as fortunate. Our hearts brimmed with joy and gratitude.”
The school principal, school administrators and teachers assisted in assembling kits and distributing them to students who need them the most.

IHHELPP identified Macapangpang Elementary School as a recipient through Romeo Campos, a former educator in the school.

IHHELPP aims to improve the quality of lives of the poor in the Philippines through meaningful and generous service. The distribution of school and hygiene supplies fulfill IHHELPP’s mission of promoting education in Philippine schools.
